John Williams a modern kori filmzene legjelentősebb alakja, aki egyben egy új műfajt is teremtett: a filmzenék részleteiben megszólaló effektusok dallamaiból hangversenydarabokat komponált. Életművének két kiemelkedő példája a Star Wars- és a Harry Potter-sorozatokhoz írt zene. Bár a film minden képzeletet felülmúló népszerűsége miatt a Csillagok háborúja a legismertebb, életművének talán legfajsúlyosabb és leginkább magával ragadó sorozata a Harry Potterhez köthető. John Williams zeneszerzői gondolkodásmódja leginkább Wagner vezérmotívum-technikájához hasonló, a filmsorozat kulcsszereplőinek és történéseinek jellegzetes motívumai, zenei karakterei vannak, amelyekből a szerző mini szimfonikus költeményeket ír. A Harry Potter-zenék műfaji sokszínűsége is lenyűgöző: a romantikától a kortársig, a jazztől a zenei paródiáig szinte minden megtalálható benne, Williams zeneszerzői technikájával pedig a klasszikus nagymesterek összes kompozíciós bravúrját felmutatja.

For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
Set in the Roman Empire around 74 BC, Spartacus was László Seregi's first true full-length ballet, which at one stroke became a milestone in Hungarian dance life. Since 1968, one generation after another has enjoyed the historically themed choreography, which treats the story of the ancient slave revolt in such a way that its true message is not the rebellion itself, but rather human emotions and choices under pressure.
