A Szolnok megyei bíróság 1954-ben tárgyalta Jancsó Ladányi Piroska törökszentmiklósi lakos bűnperét, akit ötrendbeli gyilkossággal és egy gyilkossági kísérlettel vádoltak. A nyomozás és a megyei bíróság megállapította, hogy Jancsó Ladányi Piroska – 40 holdas kulák lánya – züllött erkölcsű nő, aki erkölcstelen életét már gyermekkorában elkezdte.

Rubin Szilárd 12 évvel később, fotó alapján beleszeretett a lányba. Kétségek merültek fel benne Piroska bűnösségét illetően - negyven éven át nyomozott, és dolgozott a bűneset irodalmi feldolgozásán. Műve befejezetlen maradt.
