The Béla Bartók Choir and University Chamber Orchestra of Eötvös Loránd University is a non-professional ensemble, made up of current and former university students and teachers. Its artistic director is László Kovács, conductor, Liszt Prize winner and Outstanding Artist. The ensemble's repertoire includes baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary works, a cappella choral works, oratorios, concertos and symphonies, but alsoventures into the borderlands of light and classical music. ELTE's music ensembles have performed at the Budapest Spring Festival and the Tiszaug Music Festival, and are regular performers at the Tihany Benedictine Abbey concert series. Year after year, the University Concert Orchestra has given concerts with the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra. Recently, the Béla Bartók Choir performed at the MüPa, where they performed Ives' magnificent Symphony IV under the baton of Péter Eötvösin Concerto Budapest. In recent years, the full ensemble has performed Rossini's Stabat Mater, Verdi's Requiem, Mendelssohn's oratorio Elijah, Orff's Carmina Burana, Zoltán Kovács's Requiem and Credo as contemporary Hungarian works, and Brahms's German Requiem in June 2024 to a sold-out audience.
