És azóta a reneszánsz képeken süt a nap. És mindenki szép volt. És aki nem volt szép, a szobrászok arról is olyan szobrot faragtak, mintha szép volna. És nem hazudtak, csak szép szobrokat faragtak. És a reneszánsz zene mindig vidám, még akkor is, ha valami szomorúságról énekelnek. A mai színházi hagyományok is ott kezdődtek, a reneszánszban.
Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
