A szerelmi szállal átszőtt történelmi drámában a fiatal erdélyi református teológus, Simándy Pál szerepét Czitor Attila játssza. Nemcsak a nyomorral, a tudatlansággal kell megküzdenie, hanem a terjeszkedő román ortodox egyház képviselőjével, Todorescu pópával is. A román pap figuráját Mészáros Mihály kelti életre. A kultúrák, vallások konfliktusát fokozza, hogy Simándy beleszeret a pópa lányába, Floricába, Csonka Dóra játssza a lányt. A további szerepekben többek között Katkó Ferenc, Szőke Pál, Földesi Ágnes Villő, Szabó Lajos, Csurulya Csongor látható.
