A több, mint fél évszázada tevékenykedő művész számos díjat tudhat magáénak (néhány közülük: Huszka Jenő-díj, EMeRTon-díj, Artisjus-díj, Kossuth-Díj). Az első jelentősebb sikereit a Bergendy zenekar énekes-dalszövegírójaként érte el, s a zenekarral 6 lemezt jelentettek meg 1970 és 1978 között. Ennek az időszaknak a hajnalán született többek között a "Jöjj vissza, vándor" című sláger, mely a mai napig elhangzik koncertjein. Később a V'Moto-Rock együttes frontembereként halmozta a sikereket, velük 7 lemez került kiadásra 1978 és 1987 között. Eközben szóló karrierje is kezdett kibontakozni, melynek során számos szólólemez látott napvilágot, szám szerint 17. Ezen kívül még 4 koncertlemez és 8 válogatáslemez fűződik a nevéhez. Pályafutása során számos fülbemászó sláger született, zenéje generációkon átívelő. Koncertjein a fiatal, a középkörű és az idősebb korosztály egyaránt megtalálható.

Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
