Peter Shaffer, az Amadeus és az Equus szerzője kevéssel a szexuális forradalom előtt írta Black Comedy című bohózatát. Elég egy kicsapott biztosíték, és Brian, a fiatal szobrász lakása vaksötét lesz. Félreértést félreértés követ, és a várt és váratlan vendégek a szokatlan helyzet hatására egyre inkább úgy kezdenek viselkedni, mintha csak egy tébolydából szabadultak volna. A komédia zseniális trükkje, hogy amíg a szereplők a sötétben nem láthatják egymást, addig a közönség mindvégig világosban mulat tévelygéseiken.

While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
