Ádám, a falusi bíró, kótyagosan ébred – érzi, hogy rossz napja lesz. Fáj a feje, titkárától pedig megtudja, hogy Walter törvényszéki tanácsos úton van ellenőrizni a munkáját. Ráadásul már az ajtóban tolonganak a falusiak, akik mind azért jönnek, hogy derítsen fényt a titokra: ki járt este Évánál, a fiatal, gyönyörűszép leánynál? A lány szerelme dúl-fúl, anyja ki akarja tagadni, Éva viszont csökönyösen hallgat. Az első és legfontosabb bizonyíték egy eltört korsó... Ilyen igazságos és okos bíró mellett biztosan rábukkannak a tettes nyomára! Vagy mégsem?
Az eltört korsó Heinrich von Kleist, a német romantika egyik legfontosabb drámaírójának egyetlen vígjátéka, melyet maga Goethe mutatott be először weimari színházában 1808-ban. A hatalomról és az azzal való visszaélésről szóló mulatságos őskrimiben szerencsére hamar kiderül, hogy ki a bűnös – a kérdés csak az, hogy megússza-e a büntetést vagy sem.
