Nyár, Velence, napsütés, tenger, a Lidó finom homokja… és egy fiatal magyar bankár, aki itt akarja eljegyezni menyasszonyát annak családja jelenlétében. Ám az idilli állapot nem tart sokáig, váratlanul beüt a vörös mennykő egy szélvészként száguldó fiatal hölgy személyében… Minden fenekestül felfordul, s a szépreményű bankárból hirtelen szerencsétlen flótás lesz. De ki is ez a nő valójában? Mit akar? Miért akarja tönkretenni? Mikor hazudik, s mikor nem? A komikus helyzetek fergeteges iramban száguldanak a végkifejlet felé…

While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
